Con-Build Vietnam 2007 - Mega Event Attracts Quality and Exceeds all Expectations!

The first edition of Con-Build Vietnam 2007 - International Trade Fair For Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Construction Vehicles and Building Materials, Technology and Services was held from 20 - 23 November at the Vietnam Exhibition Fair Centre (VEFAC), Hanoi, Vietnam.

This mega event for the construction and building industries in Vietnam exceeded all expectations was officially opened by the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Hoang Trung Hai, who in his opening address said "this is a unique opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to have a global version for development of a new stage of national economic growth".

Con-Build Vietnam 2007 is the largest international trade fair ever held in Hanoi, Vietnam for the construction and building industries. More than 200 exhibitors from 19 countries exhibited world class, state-of-the-art construction and building technologies including country pavilions from Germany, Korea and China. Exhibitors at 2007 have already booked space for 2008 and new exhibitors are already joining the queue to make their intentions "concrete" to ensure they are not missing out next time round.

Over 7,300 trade visitors visited the fair from all over Vietnam who were mainly from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Hue and Dan Ang. Con-Build Vietnam 2007 was a targeted and focused event for visitors who were able to negotiate deals and conduct business directly with representatives from major international companies. Representatives from major corporations included SANY, Komatsu, Kobelco, Liebherr, Case, Volvo, Zoomlion and locally based companies were also present to display their brands they represent in Vietnam. These included companies such as Vietraco representing Sakai, V-Trac representing Caterpillar, and VietNhat representing Sumitomo.

The quality of visitors over the four days was evident in the high volume of business conducted throughout the event and the number of deals that were closed on the spot. Coming forth is Mr Huang Zhaohua, Deputy GM Overseas Business, Guangxi Liugong Machinery Co. Ltd who stressed: "The show quality comes along with the management standard of MMI and we did meet many potential buyers. As the biggest earth moving machinery manufacturer from China, Liugong enjoys a very good reputation in Vietnam. We believe in the prospective market here and we will further support the show."

Con-Build Vietnam 2007 received many endorsements from international exhibitors who have been involved in other international trade fairs over the years. Mr Zhang Wenhui, General Manager, SANY South East Asia Pte Ltd had this to say about the trade fair: "We have participated in many shows in Vietnam, Con-Build Vietnam is the biggest trade show among them. The show is tailored for the construction machinery industry and organized very professionally. We will definitely come every year with a bigger space. We hope that SANY can develop together with Con-Build Vietnam in the Vietnamese market."

Mr David Loy, Regional Sales Manager for Wirtgen Singapore summed up the trade fair on behalf of his company by saying that; "We are very pleased with the quality of the visitors to this show and this is an incredible change from other shows we have visited in Vietnam." "Congratulations to the organizer for the success of the first fair in Hanoi! The Korean exhibitors we have brought under the Korean Pavilion are very satisfied with the fair. We look forward to bringing more Korean exhibitors next year!", Mr Tae-Chil Kim, Director of KINTEX. Mr Nguyen Tuan Anh of Komatsu Asia & Pacific Pte Ltd (KAP), was overjoyed with Komatsu's participation saying: "The results from the show have been very good and we have sold all the equipment we had on display. We are extremely pleased with the trade visitors; they represent a very targeted and focused audience who know what they're looking for. The whole event was organized very professionally. We are already looking forward to Con-build Vietnam 2008!"

Further commenting on the highly organized and professional first time event was Mr Gilbert Suk of Samwoo Anchor Technology, Korea who said: "We have a representative office in Vietnam, so we have a solid understanding of the market and the environment here. Considering that Con-Build is the first international fair in Hanoi, the fair was outstandingly well organized. The promotional effects of our products being showcased at Con-Build were beyond our expectations; we will definitely come back next year."

Mr Dao Anh Tuan, Vice Director, Mico Heavy Equipment and Machinery Ltd, Vietnam had this to say: "Great Show! Con-Build Vietnam has met our expectations; we have met professional buyers and customers. It is one of the biggest international events of this field that we have ever participated in." And this comment from Mr Tran Huong Nam, Vice President, VietNhat Construction Machines & Trading, Vietnam said: "The best Construction Fair in Vietnam! We have sold all three Sumitomo machines on-site, the show really helped us to strengthen our brand's name in the Vietnamese market. We have already booked more space for the next Con-Build Vietnam in 2008!"

The over whelming responses of the Infrastructure Vietnam - Conference 2007 registered over 200 delegates. By staging the concurrent conferences with Con-Build Vietnam 2007, it gave delegates, exhibitors and visitors the opportunity to grasp the potential of the Vietnamese infrastructure developments and future infrastructure projects in the pipeline. Comments by Mr Suhen Agawal, Vice President - SE Asia, Japan & Korea, Construction Business Line, Metso Minerals of Finland had this to say: "We are very serious in developing the Vietnamese market and put our focus on Con-Build Vietnam 2007. As a result, we have received quality and potential leads for turn-key projects, and what we liked most was the concurrent conference - INFRASTRUCTURE Vietnam. This is a very good concept, to have invited the Government and Ministries to explain the infrastructure projects. Both exhibitors and visitors gained a lot through these activities."

Mr Zhang Xiaolin, Vice Chairman, Senior Engineer for the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) - Machinery Sub-Council (MSC) quoted the following: "Due to the fast development of the Vietnam economy, the infrastructure developments have a high demand in procurement. The Chinese construction machinery industry is very pleased to be involved in this market. Con-Build Vietnam provides a very good platform for exhibitors to showcase their new products and technology. CCPIT-MSC will continuously support Con-Build Vietnam." "We are glad that two contracts with the commercial value of USD 600,000 were closed during Con-Build Vietnam 2007," claimed Mr. T. C. Khanh, "IPS-EuroTec Asia Pacific is one of the largest concrete batching plant exporters to Vietnam. We have started our business in Vietnam for 10 years now and the market has no sign of slowing down."

Con-Build Vietnam is sure to be a permanent fixture on the calendar of international trade fairs to be held in Vietnam with the next event already underway, Con-Build Vietnam 2008 is scheduled for 9-12 September 2008 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
